Welcome to Coventry Copsewood WIW Cricket Club

In 1962 this club was formed and registered by 'Father Berry', who was a minister of the Church of England. They practiced at the War Memorial Park in Coventry and at the time were called The Nomads. In 1964 they registered in the park league and their name changed to West Indian Wanderers.
They had the most talented batting and bowling line up ever assembled in those lower divisions, they were Birmingham league and County standard. The progress of the club during its infancy was hampered by a lack of funding and no club mark which prohibited the league promotions that were apparent. In fact their home ground pitch was condemned in 1969 when they tried to join a higher league.
Now 54 years on we are still here. We have found a home at Copsewood Sports and Social Club even taking on the name in our title although, we still uphold the formidable reputation created so many years ago by our predecessors.
We currently have two teams competing in the Warwickshire league each Saturday, a midweek team competing in the Coventry 20/20 midweek league and a Sunday team who travels the country playing friendlies against clubs we have built strong relationships with throughout the years.
We are always striving to compete at the very highest level we possibly can whilst continuing to build on the legacy of West Indian Wanderers. Our main aims are to continue to improve and sustain the club for the future generations of cricketers and the wider community We are always looking for new members, be that playing or those that wish to support.
